Failover DeploymentFlexible Architecture for WhatsUp Gold Failover
The WhatsUp Gold Failover Manager plug-in currently supports two deployment architectures for failover support.
Architecture 1:
Primary WhatsUp Gold system on Server 1, Secondary WhatsUp Gold system & Database on Server 2
In this deployment architecture, the Primary server is installed on a separate hardware system while the Secondary server and the Remote SQL Server Express database are installed on the same hardware system. The Secondary server uses the database in the Local Database configuration as and when it becomes "Active."

Architecture 2:
Primary WhatsUp Gold System on Server 1, Secondary WhatsUp Gold system on Server 2 and Remote Database on Server 3 - recommended deployment method
In this deployment architecture, the Primary server and the Secondary servers are installed on separate hardware systems (or virtual machine instances) and the Remote SQL Server Express database is installed on a third hardware system (or virtual machine instance). Both the Primary and the Secondary servers use the database in the Remote configuration as and when they are "Active." In this configuration, the database is protected from impaired operation of both the Primary and Secondary servers.
